How To Deal With Stiff Knees After A Long Car Trip

Lately I’ve been doing a lot of driving lately and been paying special attention to my knees, especially with how they feel after a long time in a car. I’ve realized that hydration plays a HUGE role in your body ability to recover from a long time being in any position. Our bodies are designed to move and when we hold a position for any extended period of time to certain degree, rigamortis sets in. Which is precisely why our knees feel so stiff after sitting for hours at a time.

The key to getting these “kinks” worked out of our knees comes in the understanding of our nervous system which is the control center of our entire body. The nervous system is comprised of electrical impulses sent from the body to the brain and back to the body. Making sure we drink enough water is a sure fire way to make for certain that these impulses are able to get where they are going.

In addition to making sure you drink enough water, which by the way is 1/2 your body weight in oz. of water per day, is what I refer to as the “stutter step.” This will begin to teach your nervous system to let go of the tension pattern that has held up in your knee as a result of sitting in that car for so long…

Now don’t think this “stutter step” is just for long car trips. Feel free to use it when ever you have a glitch going on in your leg that’s causing your gait to feel a little off…
